Hello my name is Steve Lam and this is my portfolio. I’m a freelance web designer based in Toronto, ON Canada. I love cats, playing music, valid css/xhtml and generally all things music and design related. My aim is to work with indie artists, musicians and small businesses in achieving frenetic designs while adhering to today’s web standards.

For those who are curious, as an open-source advocate my favourite content management system (cms) is Textpattern!

That’s it. Feel free to contact me for a quote, creative brief, whatever.

xPattern - a Community driven Textpattern Fork

29 January 08

A fork has happened. Welcome xPattern to the scene.

It’s purpose is to fill the void between the myriad of active Textpattern supporters/plugin developers who feel they’ve been holed up for too long with TXP’s limits and unclear goals.

I’ve pushed the usage of Textpattern for a while now, providing support on the official forums, writing various TXP plugins, and trying to spread its gospel onto others. But theres not much I can do to defend Textpatterns stale core code in comparison to the vibrant plugin developers surrounding it, who are probably the only reason TXP is even usable at this point.

Personally, I’ll be putting all efforts towards xPattern and will be porting all of my plugins over when it’s ready to do so. Unless the fork somehow completely fizzles (which is doubtful considering the large chunk of TXP plugin developers interested in pursuing it) I will no longer be maintaining or developing any more plugins for Textpattern.
